EVENTO
Population Dynamics of An. darlingi in the Presence of Genetically Modified Mosquitoes with Refractoriness to Malaria
Tipo de evento: Seminário LNCC
In the last years, scientists have been working to create genetically modified mosquitoes (GMM) in order to encapsulate the plasmodium. These mosquitoes should couple to the wild mosquitoes, and introduce refractory genes into wild mosquito populations. The substitution of wild mosquito populations for GMM populations seeks the reduction or elimination of disease transmission. In respect to the substitution process, the mathematical models supply a close prediction of the reality, and guidelines to obtain its success. The discussion presented here aims to analyze a mathematical model which contemplates the main characteristics of the population dynamics of An. darlingi in some areas of the Brazilian Amazon, where the rivers waters level induces a seasonal variation in the population density of the mosquitoes.
